Montse is a writer, editor, and narrative strategist with more than a decade of experience based in Oakland, raised in California's Central Valley. She believes every person and organization already carries the story they need — her work is finding it, shaping it, and sending it out into the world.
Montse currently leads the ambassador fellowship program at Represent Justice, where she works alongside system-impacted people to craft stories and impact campaigns to transform our justice system. At Represent Justice, she developed a curriculum around narrative strategy to equip community leaders with the tactics and tools to tell their own stories.
As a facilitator, Montse has created and led workshops around storytelling, strategy, and nonviolent communication for young adults, nontraditional learners and organizations alike. As a journalist, she writes about art and culture as they intersect with race, gender and class for outlets like the San Francisco Chronicle, KQED and Prism.
Across it all, the throughline is the same: Montse finds the language for what people already know, and makes sure it reaches those who need to hear it.
